Harmonium - L'Heptade album FLAC

Finally, the double album L'Heptade, was released in 1976 after months of recording in Serge Fiori's own house in St-Césaire, Québec. The songs describe seven stages of consciousness in a person's daily life. The first and the last songs are named "Comme un fou" and "Comme un sage", indicating a progression towards wisdom; from a fool to a sage. The group was invited to Los Angeles, where the performance of old and new material was filmed by a team from the National Film Board of Canada and released as Harmonium en Californie in October 1979. Harmonium en tournée, a live version of L'Heptade recorded in Vancouver, was released in 1980. In 2007, all three of Harmonium's studio albums were named among the 100 greatest Canadian albums of all time in Bob Mersereau's book The Top 100 Canadian Albums.
L'Heptade is a music studio album recording by HARMONIUM (Symphonic Prog/Progressive Rock) released in 1976 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. Passing from prog folk into folk-influenced symphonic prog, Harmonium's epic concept album L'Heptade is a pretty little album from the tail-end of the golden age of prog. Always sentimental, the music at some point threatens to cross the line into sheer schmaltz, but is usually saved from this by the band's exceptional command of mood.
L'Heptade (from "hepta" - seven) constitutes the pinnacle of the band's creativity. This song cycle, presented as an initiatory rite, is formed of seven main pieces: "Comme un Fou" (Like a Fool), "Chanson Noire" (Dark Song), "Le Premier Ciel" (The First Sky), "Le Corridor," "Lumières de Vie" (Lights of Life), and "Comme un Sage" (Like a Wise Man).
Symphonic Prog Harmonium. Album Name L'Heptade.
In fact, a lot of people feel ‘Les 5 Saisons’ deserves that honour (which is indeed a masterpiece in its own right). However, l’Heptade is proving to be much more lush and ambitious. Although a tad overlong and indulgent for the non-initiated, it does represent a step up compositionally
L'Heptade is the third and final album from Harmonium, in which the band made a serious foray into progressive rock. It was released as a double-LP in 1976. It remains one of the best-known popular music double albums in Quebec.

I can hear a lot of Self-Titled sounds being carried onto this album, mainly the "singalong" parts. overall this album surprised me considering its length which i would think would drag the album out for too long. 69. Harmonium's final record, "L'Heptade", is a very ambitious piece of symphonic prog. It came out towards the genre's mainstream peak, very easily comparable to works of Yes or Camel and even pre-DSOTM Pink Floyd through various cinematics.
Harmonium's self-entitled 1974 debut was largely a straight-up folk album, earning them success in Quebec. 000 Raisons" (included on the CD reissue of their debut) was a hit. Next comes Les Cinq Saisons (1975). Now comes L'Heptade, released late in 1976 on CBS. The band had just switched from Célébration since that label went under (CBS rightfully realized that Harmonium were too good to go under thanks to a label going under, like what happened to another group, the wonderful Opus 5). Michel Normandeau had left the band halfway in the making of the album, to be replaced by Robert Stanley.

Harmonium" is a "folky" album, but it contains progressive elements too. By their 2nd album, they were very much a cross between a symphonic rock band and a folk band; an interesting combination which you can hear most clearly on the 20-minute "Histoire Sans Paroles". Overall, a perfect album to start your French Canadian prog collection. Harmonium en tourne" is an excellent live version of their conceptual work "L'Heptade".

Everything is presented in such an amazing, grand way. The more jazzier side of Harmonium is very welcoming, romantic and heartfelt.
