The Dresden Performance is the twenty-second album by Klaus Schulze. It was originally released in 1990. This is the first of seven early-1990s Klaus Schulze albums not reissued by Revisited Records. Although this album is labeled as "live", parts 3, 4 and 5 are studio tracks. All the tracks are composed by Klaus Schulze. Disc 1. Disc 2. The Dresden Performance at the official site of Klaus Schulze.

The Dresden Performance utilizes an immensely expanded emotional and musical palette to encompass what has previously been ignored or swept under the carpet by many new age composers. Here, in all of its humanness, is a powerful depiction of "The Dark Night of the Soul," expressing the spiritual warrior's initiation of endurance while crossing frontiers of alien landscapes. The pulsing rhythmic foundations of each piece create a timeless reflection on the process of the Hero's Journey.

Initially intended as a "thank you" concert in five pieces for the (then) East German audience on August 5th 1989, police restrictions forced Klaus to shorten his performance to only two pieces (Dresden 1 and 2). The remaining three pieces were recorded in studio March-May 1990. Presented in a "fat" 2CD jewel case.

Klaus Schulze, Album. The Dresden Performance. Other albums by Klaus Schulze. In 1989, Klaus Schulze, the pioneer of Euro-electronic space music, accepted an invitation to perform at an outdoor concert in the then East German city of Dresden. This double-CD package contains two long compositions that were captured live, plus studio versions of material which Schulze had prepared for the concert. The Dresden Performance utilizes an immensely expanded emotional and musical palette to encompass what has previously been ignored or swept under the carpet by many new age composers.

The liner notes in the CD says that five pieces of music were prepared for this live concert, but only Dresden One and Dresden Two were performed live due to restrictions from the local police. Klaus Schulze has later said in an interview that he only performed two of the five tracks because it was midnight, and it was getting cold.

Someone should edit the notes on The Dresden Performance, it falsely says "police restrictions forced Klaus to shorten his performance to only two pieces (Dresden 1 and 2)."The truth is that Klaus went onstage as the final act and it was getting late, it was an outdoor concert, people needed to catch the last bus or train and the august air was getting pretty damp, so Klaus played two pieces, Dresden 1 and 2 and then said good night. As klaus and his manager has confirmed there were no restrictions or police seen at all.

Check KDM's "KS - The Works" then ... Swarth09 has right. The story from the booklet is a Virgin hoax! I think that KDM can remember better than some "smart boy" from Virgin who wrote the text on the inner sleeve and probably didn't attend the concert at all :)
