Honey is the seventh studio album by American band the Ohio Players. Released on August 16, 1975 by Mercury Records. It is generally regarded as a classic, the band's best album, and the last great full-length release of their dominant era in the mid-1970s. Like previous albums by the band, Honey is known for a racy cover photo. In this case image is a nude woman holding a sticky jar of honey in one hand while lasciviously swallowing a spoonful of it with the other

Fire is the sixth studio album by the Ohio Players and the second released through the Mercury label. and on vinyl in Japan. DTS Entertainment released the quad mix as a DTS Audio CD in 2001. The album's lead single "Fire" was serving in the mid-2010s as the theme song to the US television series Hell's Kitchen.

Fire is the title song from the Ohio Players‘ sixth album. The song was recorded at Mercury Records' Chicago-based studio. While the band performed the song in California, they let Stevie Wonder hear the basic track for the song and Stevie predicted that the song would be a big hit. Stevie Wonder was right: Fire topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a week in February of 1975 and topped Billboard’s R&B Singles chart for two weeks in January of 1975. It is considered to be their signature song.

The Ohio Players's leader, singer, and guitarist Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner died on January 26, 2013 at the age of 71 from cancer. More songs from The Ohio Players. More songs used in commercials. More songs from 1975. Kevin from Reading, PaAs a young teen, I loved going into music stores and ooking through the album covers of Ohio Players albums. They always had sexy, naked women on the covers. This was a cheap thrill for a 13-year old boy in suburbia in the 70s, let me tell you.

Ohio Players were an American funk, soul music and R&B band, most popular in the 1970s. They are best known for their songs "Fire" and "Love Rollercoaster"; as well as for their erotic album covers that featured nude or nearly nude women. Many of the women were models featured in Playboy Magazine.

Biography by Jason Ankeny. Sizzling 1970s funk unit, known for the hits "Fire" and "Love Rollercoaster. Fire topped both the Billboard Pop Albums chart and the Billboard R&B Albums chart (where it held for five weeks) in early 1975. All tracks written by James Williams, Clarence Satchell, Leroy Bonner, Marshall Jones, Ralph Middlebrooks, Marvin Pierce, William Beck.

The cover of the album ( Honey by the Ohio Players) depicts a nude model kneeling atop what appears to be a sheet of glass, dripping honey all over herself from a ladle suspended above her head. The original UL was that the glass was actually Fiberglas (or some other synthetic), which reacted chemically with the honey, bonding her skin, like Superglue, to the Fiberglas. Freeing her ripped the skin off her legs, and her career as a model was ruined. Remember the classic song Love Roller Coaster by the Ohio Players? Well the rumor going around the Passaic, NJ YWCA was that one of the screams in the song was that of a real woman being murdered. Apparently, the song was recorded in the band’s apartment, and a woman was being killed by an intruder.

The Ohio Players’ album covers for its time were extremely provocative. One cover in particular, 1975's Honey, featured a nude woman holding a jar of overflowing honey while dropping the sweet substance into her mouth rather sensually with a ladle. This would be the same album that featured this urban legend single release. Based on the song title it's about the ups, downs, twists and turns of love relationships much like a roller coaster ride at an amusement park. What makes this song completely unique is a featured embedded scream that is inserted into the song's instrumental.
