Black & White ‎(LP, Album).

Album by The Pointer Sisters. Sweet Lover Man. Someday We'll Be Together. We're Gonna Make It. What A Surprise.

Black & White is the eighth studio album by the Pointer Sisters, released in 1981 on the Planet label. Black & White was their fourth record with producer Richard Perry and yielded the pop hit "Slow Hand". The fourth single release, "Should I Do It", reached in the spring of 1982, making Black & White the first Pointer Sisters album to yield two Top Twenty hits. Black & White was certified Gold in September 1981.

Their fourth album for Planet, 1981's Black & White, was also the Pointer Sisters' fourth Top Ten LP. Leaving behind some of the early soul that had taken them through the 1970s, the band now focused on a purer pop. Keeping one foot in the past while gingerly touching the waters of the future, it was a sound that perfectly welded their old intentions to the mainstream diva flag they'd unfurl a little later in the decade. With more than a few major hits already behind them, it was clear that by this time the band was approaching its peak

Pointer Sisters’ Black and White album, released in 1981, was the Divas fourth studio album with super producer Richard Perry and is brilliant from beginning to end. Consisting of 9 perfectly selected songs, each of which caters to the sisters strengths and talents, Black and White has earned its masterpiece status and has held up amazingly well 32 years after its initial release. Anita Pointer also gets a chance to shine on Black and White. Besides the iconic Slow Hand, Anita delivers a haunting lead vocal on the gorgeous What A Surprise, a yet another Pop and R&B hit. Some Day We’ll Be Together is another showstopper for Anita’s passionate voice and was also a single that got plenty of radio play.

The Pointer Sisters' second album, the 1974 release That's a Plenty, continued in the jazz and be-bop style of its predecessor but provided one exception that caused a great deal of interest: "Fairytale", written by Anita and Bonnie Pointer, was a country song that reached on the pop charts, and on the country charts. Based on this success, the group was invited to Nashville, Tennessee where they achieved the distinction of becoming the first Afro-American group to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.
