The Ohio State University Jazz Ensemble performance features the music of Stevie Wonder; with guest artists Anthony Stanco, Ohio State professor of jazz trumpet and jazz composition; and local singer/songwriter Jared Mahone, solo artist and member of the HooDoo Soul Band. Other sections are invariably strong, the trombones especially so on the director's lively arrangement of "Secret Love. Donohue, eloquent on "Ofuscato," is equally well-spoken on "I Mean You," while the talented John Gronberg has center stage to himself on "Denise" (flugelhorn) and Yasinitsky's "Granite State" (trumpet).
Diversions is a 1987 album (LP Vinyl) released by the California State University, Los Angeles Jazz Ensemble, it featured the Charles Richard Suite for Jazz Orchestra which was premiered by Dave Edwards earlier that year. This group proved to be one of the finest college jazz orchestras of that era with having placed in the finals of the Pacific Coast Collegiate Jazz Festival.

The album takes its name from Frederick Tillis' "Verzierungen (Grace Notes), commissioned by the ensemble to honor Dr. LaSalle D. Leffall J. a surgeon, oncologist, medical educator, member of the Howard University faculty since 1962, and first African-American president of the American Cancer Society, Society of Surgical Oncology, Washington Academy of Surgery and American College of Surgeons.
The United Jazz + Rock Ensemble (abbr. United" or "UJRE") developed from a group of jazz musicians that was formed for a 1974 to 1975 television show of Süddeutscher Rundfunk (South German Broadcasting). Almost all future members of "United" were present from the beginning. The group played mostly original compositions ranging from jazz to rock. Charlie Mariano's experience with Indian music occasionally brought in ethnic elements.
