It is, admit Bicep, an unashamed celebration of '90s New Jersey garage-fruity, wild, sweaty, party music. It features a (possibly) orgasmic lady grunting, Nervous skippity-hop percussion, quivering bass stabs and a menacing single-note synth undertow. The key to its success is simplicity.

Bicep is the self-titled debut album by electronic music duo Bicep, released on Ninja Tune on 1 September 2017. Upon its release, Bicep went in at number 20 on the UK Albums Chart.

Bicep - the Belfast-born, London-based duo of Matt McBriar and Andy Ferguson - are pleased to announce their self-titled debut album, a record that truly encapsulates their history and the distillation of their passion for music and club culture since their first release in 2010, via Ninja Tune. Bicep - the Belfast-born, London-based duo of Matt McBriar and Andy Ferguson - are pleased to announce.

The best way to discover unknown places is through locals and exploring it on your own. Therefore you first have to know they are existing. This lake deserves attention that UNESCO turned the place into a World Heritage site in 1992. Cheap flights to China✈. Unknown Places 3,922 steps – Haiku Stairs in Oahu, Hawaii. Have you ever heard of the phrase, Stairway to heaven ? Often than so you’d hear this over some mushy love songs. But this phrase fairly describes these stairs in Oahu, Hawaii. These majestic stairs have a top secret purpose when it was built in 1942.

Bicep: the bloggers who became house music heroes. Padded Cell – Unknown Zone. Our mate Alex Bradley, who ran parties called Love Fever in east London, is a big collector, and he introduced me to Needs. It’s way more coherent as a piece than most 90s house, with these amazing ARP parts bringing it all together. We’d play this at Robert Johnson You make derivative music that won't be remembered in a couple of years. The same synth repeated time after time.

I wasn’t lying though, I do take pictures of people making love, but do you really have to be naked to make love? Isn’t a hug, a kiss, or even just a smile, just as much a part of love making? So for all the hopeless romantics out there, here’s a collection of lovebirds I caught right in the act.

After months of shaky-cam YouTube uploads from fans capturing unreleased material, paired with the kind of feverish rapture that usually accompanies UFO sightings, Belfast deep house duo Bicep finally release their debut LP, and it fitfully lives up to expectations. Built with the rounded corners of analogue gear rather than the planed-off shards of digital, the aesthetic is of vintage techno, both breakbeat and ambient (their nostalgia is unlined by Vespa, an interlude with impressionistic raver vox pops).

An album epic in scope, Lindstrøm continued to push the boundaries of what can be achieved in the realm of Nordic disco with ‘It’s Alright Between Us As It Is’. ‘Bungl (Like A Ghost)’ featuring Jenny Hval brings the ruckus, ‘Spire’ envelops you in a wall of sound and ‘Tensions’ became a fixture in the club with it’s proggy-synth M. Umfang proves you don’t need repetitive beats to make techno gripping. Recorded almost entirely as live takes on a pair of Boss DR 202s (with input from an x0xb0x and Korg Volca FM synth), ‘Symbolic Use Of Light’ is an exercise in the power of restraint. The fact that ‘Bicep’ sounded simultaneously classic and undeniably contemporary was its secret weapon: that, and how it got better with every repeat play. We’ve done eight years of releasing 12 s and had established our name already, reasons Matt so it wasn’t like we were a new act.

By banning smoking in public places, this freedom is not taken away. By banning it we are banning an action that causes life-threatening danger to others. The point that they are making, I find, is stupid. You could also consider to not use a very complex sentence because it will just make the readers confused. In my opinion, smoking must be banned in public places, because other than causing health problems to themselves as smokers, they also affect non-smokers' health, especially children's and infants' who inhale cigarette smoke, which is very bad at such an early stage of their lives. It would sound better like this : In my opinion, smoking must be banned in public places.

A sexy and sultry release, each side complementing each other
Fearlessdweller
I'm still in love with "$tripper". Also "A Man's Best Friend" is a huge tune.
Morad
B1 samples Bette Davis. what a tune!
Faulkree
A repress would be great! =)
Uickabrod
Does anybody know who is the artist on the B side?
POFOD
Original is Betty Davis - She's a Woman :)
Banal
In this case high price is not high quality...try Fore rec.
Kirimath
Yes it is.
Tam
Is it a label?
Mavegelv
Gregg Fore (Fore label). Enjoy!

Try what? Fore rec?

I understand it's frustrating seeing high prices on discogs, but to be fair this record was available for the best part of a month. It was a hard one to miss too. If you missed it then stop whining and try not to make the same mistake again (we all regret those ones we missed). Anyway, smashing record, always works so well and great fun to mix

Immediate secondary market inflation is getting out of hand, I agree. But Love Fever probably had no idea their first release was going to blow up like it had. You could always write a polite e-mail to the label requesting a repress. Maybe they'd do another 300 color just to shut people up, if enough heads wrote e-mails.I'd love to see a repress.http://www.lovefever.org/#!/contact.html"email"left click > "Copy Email Address"paste in your e-mail client.MUCH LOVE.

A side "Bicep – $tripper" sounds like it was done in 1992 or so. There are plenty of quiet good old records made in that time which one could purchase for way less fiat money than the current hyped-up price tag you can see displayed here. By the way it's nearly 20 years that we often ear these 'tchik tchik tchik' hi-hats with a lush female vocal snippet over in house records, it has been done countless times, move on peoples and support more imaginative new creations, and if you also like retro (I do as well) I bet this won't even be timeless, we are nearly in 2013 C.A. as I write this by the way.
Winn
It does have that early 90 sound to it. That's what people like I guess. What are those other records that came out in the 90s you are thinking of that we should buy instead ? I will buy them if your recomdations are any good....

Considering that in one of your other posts you describe all of moodymann's productions as 'boring', your cynical comments should be read with caution. I don't think that dance music has ever been about buying timeless records. It's always been about playing what you feel right now. Many people buying this weren't even alive 20 years ago - so it's fresh to their ears. Leave the timeless comments to those who endlessly drone on about the Beatles as if no other band existed. The price tag has nothing to do with the music and the two should not be confused.

Great record. 134 want it, sold out everywhere. (Lack of) supply and demand. A repress would sort it all out!
Qucid
Highest price in the sales history as of august 2012: £7.452 for sale from €43I mean, I sell some expensive records on here, but that is fucking ridiculous
Browelali
and we're really only talking about 1 bicep track here.... that is a lot of money.
Talrajas
Did you buy this record in 1966? No? Well, nice comeback then
Shan
If you bought a house for £30,000 in 1966 would you sell it for £30,000 now? NO? then pipe the fuck down!
Faezahn
I bought it when I came out, what I don't want to do is sell it on discogs at a massively inflated price like a total dick
Linn
Sorry, that came out overly antagonistic, it's just stuff like this drives me a bit mental. I wasn't trying to have an argument either, just some sort of debate I guess...
Akir
If you don't want to buy it, don't buy it.
Cktiell
Ah look, I hate these inflation sellers as much as the next person. I wasn't trying to defend them. Maybe my post was a little pointless, I wasn't looking to start an argument or anything.
Qiahmagha
well it's good to know there's always people out there to pay those inflated prices on here then eh?Of what benefit is your reply other than pointing out that my original post (which I dated and everything) is slightly out of date. I'm talking about the discrepancy between what something had sold for previously, compared to what someone had then arbitrarily jacked the price up to
White_Nigga
The last 2 copies sold were for €35 and €30 respectively.
Oveley
Bicep - $tripper.. A raw Jersey tinged house track in similar vein if you like MLIU stuff. The B-side is a very drugged down disco in low BPM.
