First off, I’ll say that even though this is Burzum, it’s not at all what comes to mind when people think about the band. In other words, everything on Hliðskjálf is done with a keyboard. The overall sound of the music isn’t at all like the music from Burzum’s other ambient album, Dauði Baldrs. All the things that were wrong with Dauði Baldrs have been reduced here. For one thing, the songs have more layers and variation, and flow more, making them feel much more open and free.

Burzum is the debut studio album by Norwegian black metal solo project Burzum. It was released in March 1992, through Euronymous's label Deathlike Silence Productions. Six of the songs were later re-recorded in 2010 and released on the album From the Depths of Darkness, as Varg Vikernes was dissatisfied with some of the original vocals and production

Tracklist: 00:00 - "Tuistos Herz" 06:13 - "Der Tod Wuotans" 12:57 - "Ansuzgardaraiwô" 17:25 - "Die Liebe Nerþus" 19:39 - "Frijôs einsames Trauern" 25:55 - "Einfühlungsvermögen" 29:50 - "Frijôs goldene Tränen" 32:33 - "Der weinende Hadnur". Hliðskjálf is the perfect and balanced syncretism between Dauði Baldrs' folkloric rhythms and Burzum's signature dark ambient sound present in older albums like Filosofem, Hvis Lyset Tar Oss & Det Som Engang Var without relying excessively on the strong vocals and heavy riffs, truly a masterpiece.
Burzum is a norwegian band founded in 1991 by Varg Vikernes. He is among those who started the norwegian black metal scene. Obviously all of you know the story involving the church burning and the death of Euronymous, if you are not familiar with it I highly recommend you to watch the documentary Satan Rides the Media (youtube), just keep in mind that this documentary is sensationalist. There is a rumor saying that Varg is not playing anymore, that is not true, he just decided to stop playing black metal.
