Francesco "Franco" Battiato (Italian: ; born 23 March 1945, Ionia, Sicily) is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer, filmmaker and, under the pseudonym Süphan Barzani, also a painter. Battiato's songs contain esoteric, philosophical and religious themes. He is and has been for decades one of the most popular pop singer-songwriters in Italy
Fleurs (Franco Battiato album). Fleurs, also graphically rendered as Fleur(s) and FLEURs, is a studio album by Italian singer-songwriter Franco Battiato, issued in 1999. Except for two new songs, the album consists of cover versions of Italian and international classics, mainly from the 1960s. The album was described as "delicate, elegant and enjoyable. The album was followed by Fleurs 3 (2002) and Fleurs 2 (2008)
Franco Battiato (born 1945 in Sicily, Italy) is an Italian singer-songwriter, composer, filmmaker and painter. He is considered one of the most original personalities in Italian music from the 1970s to now. Battiato's songs are dreamy, controversial collages of images and sensations, very experimental and convoluted, rich of esoteric, philosophical and East Asian religious themes.
Franco Battiato was active in music for years before the 1972 release of this his debut album. He struggled for years as a singers artist in Milan recording under the name of Francesco before getting together with some musicians he had played with and forming the group Osage Tribe. After a couple of singles he left to start his solo career before the release of the groups seminal Arrowhead album.
