Jethro Tull was initially a strange kind of blues band. Their first line-up included Mick Abrahams, Glenn Cornick, Clive Bunker, and Ian Anderson. Shop this was on burning shed. In June 1968, just before this album was recorded, Jethro Tull began a residency at London’s famed Marquee Club (where the ‘Stones and The Who also launched their careers). Band advisers failed to get Ian to give up the flute and let Mick do all the singing. The album was recorded without any record company contract presuming, correctly, that a deal could be made afterwards. Tull began their first US tour in January 1969, immediately after securing the services of guitarist Martin Barre. The album had little commercial impact in the US charts ( but the . tour did earn the band a strong.

A is the 13th studio album by Jethro Tull. It was released on 29 August 1980 in the UK and 1 September of the same year in the United States. The album was recorded in the summer of 1980 using Maison Rouge Mobile and Maison Rouge Studios in Fulham, London. Eddie Jobson guested on the album, playing keyboards and electric violin. The album was produced by Ian Anderson and Robin Black.

Stand Up is the second studio album by the British rock band Jethro Tull, released in 1969. He was replaced by guitarist Martin Barre, who appeared on every Jethro Tull album from this point onwards.

Jethro Tull was formed in 1968 out of the remains of The John Evans Band. This Was is the name of the first record that Jethro Tull recorded in Chelsea, London in 1968. Back then Jethro Tull was pretty much a 12-bar blues band and also was the only record guitarist Mick Abrahams played on because he left the band that same year to be replaced by permanent guitarist Martin Barre.

This Was is the debut studio album by the British progressive rock band Jethro Tull, released in 1968. Recorded at a cost of £1200, it is the only Jethro Tull album with guitarist Mick Abrahams, who was a major influence for the sound and music style of the band's first songs. When the album was released the band was already performing at the Marquee Club in London, where other successful British groups, such as the Rolling Stones and The Who, had started their careers.

After several name changes, Jethro Tull played its first show as Jethro Tull in February 1968. Months later, Ian Anderson, Mick Abrahams, Glenn Cornick and Clive Bunker released the band’s debut – This Was. The album debuted at on the . album chart, but more important, it was the first step in a 50-year (and counting) journey that made Jethro Tull one of the world’s most successful progressive rock bands. The title of the album refers to the band moving away from its early blues-based sound, which was referenced in the original liner notes: This was how we were playing then – but things change – don’t they? The album includes songs that have been in and out of Jethro Tull’s live show for 50 years, like My Sunday Feeling and Beggar’s Farm. Also featured are several bonus tracks: Love Story, A Christmas Song. Sunshine Day and Aeroplane.

This is the discography of the British progressive rock band Jethro Tull who formed in Luton, Bedfordshire, in December 1967. Initially playing blues rock, the band's sound soon incorporated elements of British folk music and hard rock to forge a progressive rock signature. The band were led by itarist Ian Anderson, and have included other significant members such as guitarist Martin Barre, drummer Doane Perry, and bassist Dave Pegg.
