Hopefulessness is the first song on Courtney Barnett’s 5th album. The song differs from a lot of her other songs as it has less of a rambling tone. What have the artists said about the song? It’s that balance between being hopeless and feeling hopeless and wanting to be hopeful and that kinda like push and pull, that kind o. nger, anxiety. I guess recognising in myself and people around me that those two kind of conflicting feelings and I think how to not get lost with seeing them and how to turn it into something useful and positive. Tell Me How You Really Feel is less specific and quotidian than Barnett’s previous albums; this time, she’s turned her observational jones inward, attempting to make sense of her mental landscapes. City Looks Pretty feels like a letter to herself: Everyone’s waiting when you get back home They don’t know where you been, why you gone so long Friends treat you like a stranger and Strangers treat you like their best friend, oh well.
Tell me how you really feel. I don't know, I don't know anything. TUCKER: Did you notice Barnett's guitar playing there? She's really good in a forceful, punk rock manner. It took me a few listens to another song called "Charity" to realize what it reminded me of, the way Lou Reed's records in the 1980s sounded. org for further information.

Courtney's vocal performances aren't much less humdrum on Tell Me How You Really Feel than they were on her debut, but the slightly brighter and more aggressive instrumentation this time around offers a welcome change of pace.

Don't say Courtney Barnett didn't warn you. "Put me on a pedestal and I'll only disappoint you," she sang on her acclaimed 2015 debut album, words that were often interpreted as being aimed at her fans and a music industry that saw her as a star in the making. That self-deprecating modesty is one of the virtues that makes Barnett's songs feel so tangible, that bring a glint of "That could've happened to me" recognition
Courtney Barnett’s music is so full of seemingly stumbled-upon profundity that it’s tempting to believe you could have written it yourself. But as she well knows, it is deceptively difficult to sound as though you’re barely trying. He said, ‘I could eat a bowl of alphabet soup, And spit out better words than you’, she sings on her new album, Tell Me How You Really Feel (a request dripping with sarcasm).
