Advert taken from the 1993 album Modern Life is Rubbish including the singles For Tomorrow, Chemical World and Sunday Sunday.

Modern Life Is Rubbish is the second studio album by the English rock band Blur, released on 10 May 1993. Although their debut album Leisure (1991) had been commercially successful, Blur faced a severe media backlash soon after its release, and fell out of public favour. After the group returned from an unsuccessful tour of the United States, poorly received live performances and the rising popularity of rival band Suede further diminished Blur's status in the UK.

Modern Life Is Rubbish is Britpop band Blur’s second studio album, released on May 10th 1993. Modern Life Is Rubbish Q&A. What was the inspiration for the record? According to Damon Albarn, Modern Life Is Rubbish was started shortly after Blur’s first ever tour of America. When I first went to America with Blur it was a very alien place and it had a massive affect on us in a way and we came back and made Modern Life Is Rubbis. t was kind of a prophetic vision of what England would become in the near future. You could see all that stuff that would transform England into something else.

Modern Life Is Rubbish is the second album by English alternative rock band Blur, released in May 1993.

Country: UK & Europe.

Modern Life Is Rubbish. Release Date:10/05/1993. A fan favourite, Blur’s 1993 sophomore album and critical breakthrough flew in the face of music created by their peers, and presented a pop encyclopaedia of England to battle the influence of American grunge and the shoe-gazing, baggy affectations of their debut. Filled with melody, strings, brass and quintessential Englishness, the album’s modest success was followed by a successful UK tour, newly found respect evident in the end of year polls, and a strong indicator of where Blur were to go next.

Blur's debut album suffered from a lot of bad timing, coming on the trail end of Madchester and the begining of grunge. So Blur went back to the studio ready to reinvent themselves with their sophomore effort "Modern Life is Rubbish" (the title is taken from some London graffiti Albarn saw). The record is full of life and Damon Albarn spins off contemporary satires that are both clever and humerous

Expanded across two discs, the LP format of the Modern Life Is Rubbish remaster is cut on heavyweight 180 gram, audiophile vinyl and housed in a replica of the original sleeve artwork.

Juce
Disc two label has also been printed onto disc one. Great sounding.
TheMoonix
The SQ is great but the first disc is mislabelled. The track listing is for the 2nd disc.
I_LOVE_228
track 10 contains a slight jump into the middle of the song
Lestony
Despite having almost 60 minutes of music on one disc, this still sounds very good, I've not listened to the remastered release so can't compare but maybe heavy tracks like Advert or Chemical world could sound more punchy on that release possibly. If your after this original 1993 release just make sure you get a copy in good condition as often with these 25+ minute vinyl's, you have to crank up the dial a little more which can bring any clicks and pops screaming out at you.
sergant
I have a copy that suffers a little with crackles. Still an enjoyable listen though.
Windforge
Popscene was added after the fact for the US release. I remember getting the original UK pressing and seeing the popscene 12" in a small record shop a little later upon release. The original pressing is pretty decent, and as one would expect superior to the CD.For me 'For Tomorrow' is one of the best album openers I have in my entire collection.. the rest of the album is fabulous, and a brilliant re-invention when they were hanging by a thread financially and into obscurity. From what I heard, the official re-issues do sound quite nice. and a snip at 23 quid
Nikohn
Clearly a CD-to-vinyl rip. Sounds Terrible. Tinny and very low volume.
Conjukus
As shown in photos, US cassette also includes Popscene near end of side B.
Qwert
Sound quality is very low on this pressing really need to turn up the volume
Kajishakar
I don't see why this had to be expanded to a 2xLP? The second disc could have been used for B-Sides...*grumble*
Fog
Spreading it out over 2 lps improves the sound quality
Sha
Well, the album is about 59 minutes total. LPs hold thirty minutes per side maximum, though 25 minutes per side is the max if you want to keep the sound quality as best as can be. So a double LP makes sense for this album, unlike Think Tank and The Magic Whip, both of which are roughly the same length as Leisure (a single LP!).
Kirimath
digital remasters
Narim
All first pressings of Blur album's on vinyl are pressed from digital masters. The digital remastering tag means that these pressing have now been remastered to give a better sound for vinyl.
Cktiell
didn't know thanks
terostr
Very well pressed like all of the other Blur reissues.
Mettiarrb
I have a white vinyl copy of this record. What facts/info are we basing the notion that the colored copies are unofficial? Is there a statement from Blur or from Food Records? Thanks.
MARK BEN FORD
I have the white vinyl also, Is it worth anything or is it a repress?
Beazekelv
there are unofficial repressings of MLIR and parklife, (for some reason they didnt do the other big ones)notably the parklife cover has made the blur logo a slime green colour. whilst theyre clearly a cheap knockoff, theyre actually more appealing to myself, because theyre on a single pice of vinyl, rather than the 2 slabs in the official reissue
Opilar
The biggest indication is that in 2009, neither blur nor Food issued a statement about a reissue, like they did with the 2012 resissues. Also the sound quality and low resolution cover scans most notable on the bar code and LP labels.
Orevise
Horrendous sound quality. Wonder how they managed to fuck it up that much. This is a bootleg tho, not an official release.
Rarranere
Yeah, it really does sound like shit. But it's Blur, on green, so still worth owning.
