Released May 21, 1997. OK Computer Tracklist. The result was 1997’s OK Computer, which was designed as a deliberate reaction against the grunge movement of the 1990s. Then new-ish engineer and future Radiohead mainstay Nigel Godrich told Rolling Stone of the recording sessions: They were the band of my dreams. There were no constraints.

Radiohead’s ‘OK Computer’ Reissue Shows The Album That Almost Was. About OK Computer .

OK Computer OKNOTOK is a reissue of the 1997 album OK Computer by the English alternative rock band Radiohead. It was released in June 2017, the album's 20th anniversary, following the acquisition of Radiohead's back catalogue by XL Recordings from EMI in 2016. The album is remastered and includes B-sides released on OK Computer singles, plus three previously unreleased songs: "I Promise", "Man of War", and "Lift".

OK Computer, however, is a suite of music that redefined the band's sound, a trick they would repeat 3 years later, and works as both a brilliant album, but also as a truly remarkable set of individual songs. The songs: 1. Airbag. This is one of the heavier songs on here musically, with the track being heavily based over Phil Selway's cut up drum loops, displaying some of Radiohead's trip-hop influences, as also evident on Climbing Up The Walls. Although many Radiohead fans pick this as a highlight of the album, I've never understood why, as I think it's one of the weakest songs on here. The vocals are some of the least understandable on the album, although they are far darker, with lines such as "Don't talk sentimental, it always ends up drivel" coming over the top of another more cheerful musical backing.

OK Computer, though, is a complicated and difficult record: an album about the way machines dehumanize people that's almost entirely un-electronic; an album by a British "new wave of new wave" band that rejects speed and hooks in favor of languorous texture and morose details; a sad and humanist record whose central moment is Thom Yorke crooning "We hope that you. choke. Radiohead's third album got compared to Pink Floyd a lot when it came out, and its slow drama and conceptual sweep certainly put it in that category.

OK Computer is the third album by the English rock band Radiohead, released in 1997. It reached on the UK Albums Chart and marked Radiohead's highest entry into the American market at the time, where it debuted at OK Computer expanded the band's worldwide popularity, becoming the last Radiohead album to have a delayed release outside of the United Kingdom. As of 2007, it has been certified triple platinum in the UK and double platinum in the US. OK Computer included the singles "Paranoid Android", "Karma Police" and "No Surprises".

The members of Radiohead self-produced the album with Nigel Godrich, an arrangement they have used for their subsequent albums. Other than the song "Lucky", recorded in 1995, Radiohead recorded OK Computer in Oxfordshire and Bath between 1996 and early 1997, mostly in the historic mansion St Catherine's Court. The band distanced themselves from the guitar-centred, lyrically introspective style of their previous album, The Bends

Album · 1997 · 12 Songs. There is, underneath the blanket praise, music too; a perfect (1997) statement of pre-millennial angst that sees the singer Thom Yorke being awkward about everything, from trains to politics. Karma Police" is the band’s last great catchy pop tune, but it’s lesser known tracks like "Let Down" that still offer the surprises. So pretty, so sad, so Radiohead. OK Computer Radiohead.

Rindyt
What a nice sounding pressing. I can't complain with what I hear.
Marige
Easily one of the finest pressings I own of any album. Some of the sonics literally jump out at you. If you haven't revisited this gem since the old CD days, track down a copy of this UK Parlophone pressing as it sounds like an entirely different album in places.
Zadora
For me this Warner version is the definitive version to have. It's so dead quite I wonder if my reciever is on every time. Super Flat, Clean, and well balanced. It floors me everytime. Super Happy and impressed. I've heard similarly good things about the new XL reissues.
Unde
My copy says MADE IN EU and that it belongs to Warner. It does sound great. I got it via Barnes and Noble.com :)
Moogugore
Your copy willl be an earlier pressing from the EMI period, prior to Parlophone being taken over by Warner in 2010/11
Yozshugore
My copy has the same runout info as this, but the labels do not have the "A Warner Music Group Company" text. Odd.
Zacki
Same here. No mention of Warners on any of the labels but what a pressing :) One of the best sounding records I own.
Fountain_tenderness
Mine is the same as yours. I'm just going to catalog this one as it's the closest.
Andronrad
Just got back from the shop with a brand new sealed copy of this repress. Comparing the runouts to the photos here on Discogs of the first 1997 LP, this pressing is sourced from the exact same mothers/lacquers as the original release. The matrix stamps are in precisely the same position (in relation to the spiral of the runout groove) as the original, on all 4 sides. Only the position of the "2" has changed. I would not expect this edition to sound different to the original in any significant way, as they both come from the same cut.
Riavay
It may be though, that the press is quite worn. Initial presses are always the best.
Mavegelv
well no, it's not been remastered. However, many complained that they were experiencing a lot of surface noise with original pressing, but all accounts, this was cleared up on this reissue.
zmejka
I'm a little confused. I picked up a copy at Hastings and the back cover has the Capitol label and the following text:©1997 The copyright in this sound recording is owned by EMI Records Ltd. ©1997 EMI Records Ltd.This would indicate that it's a US pressing right? Well the Matrix / Runout matches what is posted here on the UK Pressing with the NODATA stamp versus MASTERED BY CAPITOL.Am I missing something? I have ordered a copy from Amazon UK so I can see if there is a difference.
Mr.Bean
I have the exact same copy. Ordered from Amazon US. Capitol Records with text just like yours: ©1997 The copyright in this sound recording is owned by EMI Records Ltd. ©1997 EMI Records Ltd. Parlophone UK pressings inside ad they sound brilliant. Guess we got lucky.
Venemarr
I also just had this happen. Ordered from Barnes and Noble. Capitol on the sleeve, Parlophone on the records. Dead wax matches UK Parlophone release.
Golkis
Same thing happened to me. Back cover says Capitol, but the labels on the record are Parlophone made in UK. Not sure what to think..
Enditaling
wynams comment below me is very helpful. sincere thanks for writing that all out.. unfortunately when i ordered from barnes and noble i got a capitol pressing. so YMMV on that route.. cheers
Direbringer
I got mine from vinyl-digital, fast shipping, good price. highly recommend this pressing sounds fantastic
HelloBoB:D
Uh oh. I just ordered from B&N hoping to get the Parolophone pressing. I guess we'll see what comes in the mail. When did you order yours?
Mala
Just a heads up to anyone looking for this particular release out there ...B&N.com has the 1st repress version (analog master, 180 g vinyl, no surface noise) for $24.Here is my account of how I got from there to here:http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sklajd
Vathennece
I recently ordered this LP using the link above, and I got the Capital version, not the Parlophone.
Brajind
Me too. Totally sucks. Damaged to boot.
Yannara
I ordered from B&N on March 12 and I got the Capitol release. So it looks like that's what their shipping now. That was a little disappointing.
Agarus
how did it turn out?
Arihelm
Made an order through them... hopefully I wind up with the same version as you. Quick question though, how are you able to tell the difference between the 1st Parlaphone repress the ones that might be the same as the "From the Vaults".
Kadar
This is my favorite album of all time and this is the best version/format I have listened to.
Mr_TrOlOlO
This is the best sounding copy of OK Computer you can get... It's the version you receive if you order from the UK. Get it! Nice analog sound (the recent Capitol Records issue is digital).
Olma
IS there a difference between the original pressing and the UK reissue on 180g? I'm very curious as to which sounds better! -cheers
Naa
I would have to agree.. at least about the cap reissues.. they're pretty garbagey.. gonna try and track down a light weight hail to the thief.
Amhirishes
I'm getting my hands on a 180g reissue in the next couple of weeks and can let you know! I can tell you right now that the original non-180 sounds a ton better than the capitol reissue though. I've also compared 180g UK and non-180 UK pressings of Hail to the Thief (Both 2003 originals), and the lighter pressing is superior by far.
Varshav
Does anyone knows how to spot the difference between this release and the original 1997 release?
Elildelm
From the description here and the original pressing it seems the matrix etchings on side 4 (moo) are different.
Kekinos
IIRC -- I might be wrong -- the original UK pressing was not sold shrinkwrapped, nor is it 180 gram vinyl.
inform
i a recent change of the repress release on discogs it seems that the matrix number differs between the 2 releases. I didn't had time to check this out.
Sudert
Did you get any info on this?
