This platter is the first of seven non-seasonal offerings from the elevision entity known as the Partridge Family. The idea took root in both the overtly marketing-oriented Monkees' multimedia project and combined it with the infinite storyline possibilities inherent in the honest to goodness pop/rock relations, the Cowsills. The Partridge Family ran on ABC-TV from September 25, 1970, through August 31, 1974.

In that spirit, "Partridge Family Album" stands up well today as an entertaining example of pop, 1970-style.

The Partridge Family were a bubble gum pop music act based on the popular television series The Partridge Family. David Cassidy supplied lead vocals and Shirley Jones performed as a background vocalist along with session musicians. The other television cast members were also usually pictured on the album covers but did not participate in the recordings. The World of the Partridge Family is a greatest hits compilation album by The Partridge Family released in April 1974. This was their only two-record set as well as their last release on the Bell label, featuring 20 songs from the previous albums (except Christmas Card and Crossword Puzzle), including all their charted hits.
