Rory's album 'Defender' was released on this day in 1987. Of all my albums, ‘Defender’’s my absolute favourite, purely because it was blood on the tracks. That album had to be done without any help or assistance. It's the usual Barry Manilow quote, I really put a lot of myself into the album. It's not going to change the world, it says what it means and it means what it says. From the vaults of the Rory Gallagher archive comes Blues, a collection of rare and mostly unreleased recordings of Rory playing his favourite blues material. to/Blues Ranging from never heard before tracks to special guest sessions with legendary blues artists like Muddy Waters and Albert King plus lost radio sessions, this album uncovers Rory’s love of the blues throughout his solo career from 1971 right through.

Deuce is the second solo album by Rory Gallagher, released in 1971. In contrast with his previous album, Rory Gallagher, where Gallagher tried for a precise, organised sound, Deuce was his first of many attempts to capture the energy of a live performance in the studio. Deuce opens with the classic Gallagher guitar riff of "Used to Be", where the raw energetic, crystal vocal is ably complemented by his rhythm section of Wilgar Campbell on drums and Gerry McAvoy on bass.

William Rory Gallagher (/ˈrɔːri ˈɡæləhər/ GAL-ə-hər; 2 March 1948 – 14 June 1995) was an Irish blues and rock t, songwriter, and producer. Born in Ballyshannon, County Donegal, and brought up in Cork, Gallagher recorded solo albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, after forming the band Taste during the late 1960s. His albums have sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Gallagher received a liver transplant in 1995, but died of complications later that year in London at the age of 47.

In this respect Gallagher was an early model for Eric Clapton, whose solo career followed a similar path. Interestingly, Gallagher seems rather restrained throughout his debut, holding back the fret-burning in favor of strong songs. He opens up on the album's jazzy, seven-minute finale "Can't Believe It's You" which even features an alto sax, an instrument Gallagher all but abandoned on later albums.

The Solid 7 model also featured a hollow-body design, but didn’t have any sound holes so to an observer it looked like a solid-body, and it didn’t have a truss rod which meant that over time the neck would end up with a upward bow because of the sting tension. It was quite good, it was very distorted guitar – which I didn’t quite like at the time because clean sounding guitars were the thing. Rory Gallagher Strat Masters. 1960s Hofner Colorama. This was allegedly Rory’s second guitar, most likely replacing his old Rosetti Solid 7 sometime in the early 60s.
