12 USD. Crain 's influence is wide-reaching and evident on countless records by everyone from James Murphy 's now-defunct pre- DFA projects ( Pony, Speedking ) to widely popular and hugely influential acts like Shellac.

At the time of Speed's recording, Crain consisted of vocalist/guitarist Joey Mudd, bassist Jon Cook, guitarist Tim Furnish, and drummer Will Chatham. An early version of the group featured future Matmos maverick and Pitchfork wag Drew Daniel on vocals. It's never easy to accurately gauge what influence a particular album has truly had, especially one with such a limited initial release. Suffice it to say, however, that at the very least Speed was eerily prescient in anticipating much of the subsequent work of such acts as Helmet, Jawbox and Drive Like Jehu.

Crain, hailing from the Louisville, Kentucky scene that spawned David Grubbs prolific web of projects and groups as well as incestuously making ties with every other project occurring: from Squirrel Bait to Bastro to Gastr del Sol and the amoebic offshoots of Slint ("Tweez" is remarkably close to this album) and Tortoise and King Kong (which is unknown to me) while around the.

Crain's sophomore album, Heater, was picked up by Restless Records for national release in 1994. Full-time drummer Tony Bailey joined soon after, and when bassist Hayden subsequently left, he was replaced by Todd Cook. In 1995, the group contributed the Heater track "Hey Cops!" to the soundtrack of the cult indie rock film Half Cocked. They also began work on a new album, but it was never completed; Crain disbanded at the end of 1996

Full Speed is the third studio album by American rapper Kid Ink. It was released on January 30, 2015, by RCA Records, distributed by these affiliated record labels Tha Alumni Music Group and 88 Classic. The album marks as the second release with the RCA Records.

Crain's Speed was remastered and reissued in 2005 by Temporary Residence Records along with some rare bonus tracks. Plans were made by various parties to release the final line-up's recordings but no actual document has ever surfaced. Many of the members of Crain reunited in 2010 under their original moniker, Cerebellum. One show was in May for the Jason Noble Benefit with Endpoint. The other was to celebrate the re-release of the 1989 Cerebellum EP with new recordings.

Crain was an indie band from the early 1990s Louisville, Kentucky. The band was similar to Slint and Rodan, as a part of the math rock and post-rock genres. Crain only two full-length albums and a handful of 7" records. Their first record, that Steve Albini produced, Speed was an early blueprint for releases that would follow in the post-rock and math rock movements.

The image above is from the CD reissue cover art. The original LP looks like this: http://www.popsike.com/Crain-Speed-Original-LP/251043817505.html (Crain's name logo remained the same throughout the band's existence.) Drummer Will Chatham's website says 1000 pressed of the original Automatic Wreckords vinyl LP version. I'd definitely like to know more about this silk-screened cover edition of 100 AND a rumored glow-in-the-dark colored vinyl (possibly one and the same)... Photos anyone??

Thanks for the info! I mail ordered my vinyl copy from Simple Machines as soon as I saw their distro catalog listing of it (late 1992 or early '93). At that point all they needed to do was name drop Slint and Rodan and I was in. ???? I got the reissued CD as well, but for some reason put it off for many years - though did have the pleasure of seeing it (complete with hype sticker) in my local/regional store Newbury Comics when it was released. I love this album but "Heater" is still my favorite thing they did.

I bought this when it came out and over the years had the cassette (long since eaten), two copies of this version (still own) and the reissued CD. The silkscreened covers for this LP glow in the dark not the actual records. This version is super rare and it surprises me that its selling history goes for less than the more common version. Either way, this is the best record to come out of Louisville, KY. I love this record. This is in my top five of records that everyone should own.
