Idlewild - Captain album FLAC

Captain is the debut release by Scottish rock band Idlewild, released in January 1998. Although the number of tracks would normally class the release as an EP, Captain is commonly known as a mini-album. Guitarist Rod Jones notes that the album "was a sort of introduction to Idlewild. The album was produced by Paul Tipler in the first week of October 1997 at River Studios, London, and released through Deceptive Records.

Released in 1998, ‘Captain’ carries a lot of genre influences – most importantly a punkish attitude throughout the album. The main component of Idlewild’s ‘Captain’ (it seems from what I’ve heard all their other albums are their lyrics). Clocking in only at 1:58 the hyper hardcore-esque Self Healer is straight forward and short enough to appreciate. The constant screams of This song is a beautiful lie echoes throughout. Idlewild seem to take a different approach in the next track as Annihilate Now! is a lot poppier, but carries a heavier guitar riff throughout the song.

Idlewild's first album "Captian" is a great album. The album begins with "Self Healer" a very fast song with a great melody from lead singer Roddy Woomble. The songs after this just keep up the pace of great guitar music of the past. The songs "Last night I missed all the fireworks" and "You just have to be who you are" are pure adrenaline rushes. The lyrics are also great, they are heartfelt and real rather then generic cliches. I'm sure any fan of indie/punk music with great melodies will love this album. This version of Captain is a Japanese import with 4 bonus tracks. Therefore, it makes the EP a full album. So, basically, it's Idlewild's first album.
