But Nothing is Lost is a 2005 album by Shpongle. It is the project's third and was announced as their last, though that plan later changed. Like the previous two albums, it features many live musicians and vocalists in combination with computer-generated sounds and spoken-word samples. Stylistically the album can be described as a fusion of world music, intelligent dance music, and psychedelic trance.

Now remastered for 2019. It proved to be yet another masterclass in the psychedelic fusion of the worlds between musical genre and sonic geometry. This iconic album has been remastered and the packaging has been painstakingly upgraded, making Nothing Lasts, our most super-deluxe release to date. Due to the bespoke design and unique construction of the sleeve as well as the complex printing process of all the features involved, this item also has a premium price tag, making it the ultimate collectors item. We are very proud of this album and confident that you will never see another record, as beautiful or as lovingly put together as this one!

If you were moved by either Are You Shpongled? or Tales of the Inexpressible, this one will blow you away. But Nothing Is Lost Shpongle. The first project that Shpongle (the duo of Simon Posford and Raja Ram) ever attempted together was a 20-minute epic about the emotional effect of witnessing a solar eclipse, which says a bit about the level of their ambition, if not obsession. Despite being together since 1996, this 2005 album is only their third (and reportedly final) full-length release, a schedule that allowed the studio time necessary to create this sprawling and spectacular 20-song outpouring. Their first two albums are impressive and groundbreaking, but this album is truly a leap beyond.

The album famously features 20 tracks (which on vinyl appear as 8 separate tracks) designed so that every one flows seamlessly into another, continuously evolving like a musical hologram.

Release Date: 2005 Tracklist. But Nothing Is Lost is one of the most anticipated cult releases of this year. Since the formation of Shpongle in 1998, as a fun side-project for the two members, they've gone on to become one of the leading lights of psytrance/Goa, a genre of music that is to your common or garden-variety trance music what bop is to early jazz, or progressive rock is to early rock'n'roll, effectively.

The release looks fantastic and it sounds remastered indeed, however, the quantity pressed and the price asked for, won't make this release as collectable as the rest. After two months it is still available from the official Bandcamp of Twisted for the launch price. So don't get fooled by sellers asking 2x times the price and if you want it, get it straight from the source. There is no question it looks simply amazing but I for one did not like the oversized book, it stands out next to the other reissues which already looked awesome anyway. One to have for listening and not to flip, there is no money to be made investing in this one.

Simon says: 'this costs us 80 pounds to make, 'Ineffable Mysteries From Shpongleland' cost us a fortune.I wonder what the price of that one's going to be.... It think it will cost us a fortune too.
Flas
$105 was too much. I paid like $40 New for Codex VI being a 3 LP set.
Onaxan
Hopefully they'll learn that the crazy high price deters a lot of potential buyers and either make it less expensive or make the pressing quantity less. I've only had this record for a few days but honestly I don't think it's any nicer than the previous 2 deluxe reissues and those were like $105 total instead of the $180 I paid for this
Quynaus
What is the reason of doing reissue priced (sealed) like rare discogs vinyls? Both earlier reissues also look and sound great in same hardcover, and cost half of this - dissapointed with this release, make money is great, but in this way?!
Gaua
Another fine edition in Shpongle's remastering catalog. The very heavy book is beautiful. It changes in different colored lights. But most importantly, the music is also well done. I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned the fact the vinyl sounds fantastic.
Modifyn
I'm listening to my copy for the first time, and I agree it does sound fantastic. However, I noticed that at the beginning of Side B there seems to be a few piano-like sounds that seem very out of place. They don't occur in any other copy of this album so I'm wondering if it's part of the remaster? Or an issue with my vinyl. Does this happen on yours?EDIT: Reached out to Twisted Records, they noted that this piano key was on the original vinyl pressing back in 2005, and so they decided to keep it for this release. It's not found in any other medium (CD, digital, etc)
Wooden Purple Romeo
I completely agree! Everything sounds so nice, the bass the high's
Iriar
Insane price but what wouldn't you do for your maybe favorite Shpongle album. Twisted may have some problems with these, still available after 2 weeks, unlike some of the earlier releases that sold out in a day.Edit: Finally gave it a listen, this is the first remaster where I can hear a difference clearly. Not bad.
Vareyma
Yep but if they sold at the same rate they should be gone. I've checked Bandcamp every few days, if they don't continuously add more stock/Bandcamp hasn't changed their system there's barely any sales at all.
Kriau
No other deluxe edition had this many copies either, so there's that too.
Renthadral
Looks promising so far, will report when i receive my replacement
Hilarious Kangaroo
the record weight 178gr.so it is heavy weight vinyl 180gr..
Tygolar
bro that's probably Simon P's hair, that's one of a kind! I'll buy your hair copy for $1,000
Kiaile
Funny you say that, i feæt exacly the same, why the fuck not made thick 180g vinyls and yes i also have air bubbles here and there.. would rather choose a 180grams with a standard sleeve anyday so this move Simon made is a bit like pissing on the fans.. yes its beautiful but and that price you gotta do a better job and why make it so big that it cant fit in a normal vinyl shelf, come on
Samut
A simply beautiful piece of art with multidimensional layers to explore :)
Heraly
Finally! It took a while for this to arrive, and the HEFTY price tag was hard to swallow, but since this is a release I've always loved and wanted to own on vinyl... oh well.So today it arrived and, to make it short, it's beautiful. The record comes in a custom anti static sleeve, with Shpongle related stuff printed on front and back, held together with a silvery Shpongle sticker. The outer record sleeve is thick and sturdy, embossed and layer with various metallic foils, making it a piece of art imho, very pleasing to look at. It opens like a book, albeit one with just 8 pages, and houses two records, both in shrink-wrapped sleeves with custom, uni-coloured designs that look like something off a circuit board. The records are flat, clean and, just like the other Shpongle reissues, sound as good as it gets. Simon and his crew know how good audio works, and this release makes me want to explore the layered piece of flowing music that "Nothing Lasts..." is, again. All in all a brilliant addition to any lover of psychedelic electronica's record collection, albeit the kinda ridiculous price.
