Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit is the debut studio album by Australian indie rock musician Courtney Barnett, released on 20 March 2015. The album received wide acclaim and was ranked as one of the best albums of 2015 by numerous publications. After playing with various bands in Melbourne, Barnett used money that she had borrowed from her grandmother to start her own Milk Records label and released her first EP, I've Got a Friend Called Emily Ferris (2012).

Barnett’s debut album follows her earlier EPs I’ve Got A Friend Called Emily Ferris and How To Carve A Carrot Into A Rose. It was finished in the spring of 2014, but not immediately released because it takes her a long time to make decisions, Barnett said of her growth in the songwriting department: The determination to write an awesome, perfect song wasn’t there, which is what I had been doing up until then: trying to write a song that everyone would like. When I stepped away from that need to impress, I wrote a bunch of songs that I liked

Courtney Barnett started Milk! Records in 2012 to release her first EP I've Got A Friend Called Emily Ferris. Soon after came the second EP How To Carve A Carrot Into A Rose. She took her band overseas with a condensed back catalogue called The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas. In 2015 Barnett released album Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit to worldwide critical acclaim.

Released March 15, 2015. Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit Tracklist. 1. Elevator Operator Lyrics. The album is known for its rocking guitar, deadpan vocal delivery via Barnett, and hilariously penned lyrics about anything from relationships to the environment. It’s almost if it tries to be mundane but turns out spectacular. It was named the eleventh best album of 2015 by the Genius Community. Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit Q&A.

On Sometimes I Sit, Barnett is able to find a balance between giving open rein to free associating any and all mundanely personal details that come to mind and striking a bright pop tone that compacts and condenses the more meandering trips collected on 2013’s The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas. It doesn't excite with sonic innovation and lyrical reinvention, it excites by just sounding really, really, really good, and coming from a voice that, in more ways than one, we've never quite heard before. And that in itself should make it one of the most thrilling albums you hear this year.

Lyrics to the Full Album on one page). An Illustration Of Loneliness (Sleepless In New York).

Sometimes I Sit And Think. has been added to your Cart. Courtney Barnett is a very cool Australian singer-songwriter. The songs are more about how life is and not romantic notion of what we'd like it to be. The title is quite appropriate for the album and I'm reminded of Suzanne Vega by the themes and content of this album. Courtney's has a very good singing voice and a cool Australian accent.

The album received wide acclaim and was ranked as one of the best albums of 2015 by numerous publications. Lotta Sea Lice is a collaborative studio album between Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile, released on October 13, 2017, on Matador, Marathon Artists and Milk!

Sit is Barnett's first album, the follow-up to two EPs collected on a Barnettily-titled product called The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas. Its music is descended from 1990s grunge, descended in turn from '60s garage and psychedelia-the rocks to the balloons of Barnett's thoughts, which blow back and forth above the distorted guitars buoyed by gas we can't actually see. Without her words, the music would sit there; without the music, Barnett would drift away

Barnett's thick Australian accent carries an unstated pride for her homeland, but her sly twists of phrase, alternately wry and melancholic, give a greater sense of place, time, and character. Offhand observations mingle with understated insights, a nice trick of songwriting that the music cannily mirrors.

Great pressing. Clean and no pops or clicks. Excellent separation of vocals, instruments ... much better soundstage and crisper than the high-res streaming version on Tidal. Picked this up at one of her shows. And since the music is one of the best albums of 2015, IMHO this is the definitive medium for this album.

It is true, you can't make a pig pretty by just adding makeup. Garbage recorded, will sound like garbage on vinyl. This particular album is alsocategorized as 'lo-fi' so maybe you have your expectations set a bit too high. I don't know who this band is so I can't comment on sound they produce.
GAZANIK
another crappy/ flat sounding compressed digital file on a record. honestly, i dont know what the other reviewers are hearing! maybe they're used to current substandard recording/mastering practices. might sound ok through computer speakers! save your money and buy the cd! the only positives is that the music and pressing are good.
Flamekiller
You copied and pasted the same comment on four of her releases. Where is your evidence of this happening?
Bloodhammer

I have this pink print, but it does not match the bar code. It matches with the normal print.
Aloo
Superb pressing. Looks really nice too, not offensively pink but more like a pastel. If you care about that sort of thing!
Der Bat
Probably One of my Favourite LPs in my collection! Its got everything and ticks every box, amazing artwork on a lovely textured cover, Gatefold with great printed inners, Love the polaroid Pictures and the Poster a nice touch...Then you get 2 beautiful Yellow Vinyls to look at and play! Its not style of substance either... Both of mine are completely flat and silent apart from a slight bit of woshing in the right channel on side DMastered really well for the music in my opinion, the Guitar sounds so banging and clear yet Courtney's vocals Drift nicely over the top of it all..As for Side B Small Poppies & Depestion I Had to turn round just to check Courtney hadn't crept into the room and started singing they were that clear! Not sure what the other Single vinyl releases sound like but this 2xLP version is such as good release...Any Idea who Pressed it Anyone?
EXIBUZYW
Superb Quality, great new artist. One of my most-played records of last year, no doubt. Looking forward to what she'll be writing in the future!
Mamuro
My copy sounds great (flat, centered and silent.) I highly recommend this.
anonymous
Superb! Nothing more to say. I think I might have fallen in love with this amazing artist! And oh, the quality is great, no issues.
Freaky Hook
Clean pressing. I find it a little bit noisy compared to the standard UK black vinyl pressing which is dead silent.
Scoreboard Bleeding
My copy is missing the A-side label. Anybody else?
Danskyleyn
My copy has "Made in U.S.A" on the cover, but the translucent orange vinyl has "MPO" etched in the deadwax, indicating the vinyl was actually pressed in France.
lubov
anyone else's copy kind of noisy? I was disappointed to hear pretty bad distortion throughout
Porgisk
Now have a second copy, a massive improvement over the first one. Maybe I was just a bit unlucky with the first one.
Shadowredeemer
Mine is very noisy, one of the worst records in my collection. Tempted to buy another one to try and get a good copy, but only cause I really like Ms Barnett's work.
Hugighma
Yeah, little noisy. Doesn't affect my enjoyment much though.
Adrietius
My copy is re purposed copy of 5060186929903 with new barcode sticker 85275026115 includes 7" Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go To The Party.
Cordaron
yea i noticed on instagram before i got my copy that everyone had the same "polaroid" photos included :
Stonewing
Just got mine yesterday and it includes the 7" too. Also, the "polaroids" aren't real... just prints that are cut in a polaroid shape. Still cool but a bit misleading to think you're getting real pictures.
SlingFire
No reason to pay ridiculous prices--still available here: https://courtneybarnett.bandcamp.com/album/sometimes-i-sit-and-think-and-sometimes-i-just-sit
Rainbearer
I ordered the special edition (2 Yellow LP) and received the same LP as the double orange that I already have. THE NEW SPECIAL EDITION DOES NOT INCLUDE THE ELECTRIC LADY SHOW ON LP!! I would have not ordered it if i knew that.

It is not often that a song is made about getting an asthma attack during a morning gardening. Courtney Barnett did it, with the very nice Avant Gardener. The song was to be found on the album The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas, with which the Australian her first two EPS were compiled in 2014. On that EP was more of such material: wry, forthright, intelligent and performed with a certain laziness. The latter earned her comparisons with ' slacker rock'-artists from the nineties: consciously and with a minimum of nonchalant glamour. On her official debut Sometimes I Sit And Think, Sometimes I Just Sit makes Barnett the expectations that its EPS aroused quite true. With Barnett itself on guitar and only bass and drums to accompany delivers them a very pleasant album on which she can rock, but sometimes also takes back some gas. Always shows them an original look at the world that at the same time very recognizable, so commonplace are the subjects sometimes. It was only waiting for someone there a great song about wrote, and Courtney Barnett does that here time and time again.
Wizer
Great album with excellent dynamic sound. One of the quiested pressings I've heard in the modern era.
sergant
I received the slipmat preordered from bullmoose.
Celak
I got this today, and it's actually an orange 2LP that appears to be identical to the UK Marathon Artists 2LP version. The jacket even has MA's info and no mention of Mom+Pop anywhere.
Whitescar
Then you simply own the UK version, right?
Sadaron above the Gods
The slipmat is presumably only included in the version meant for indie record stores, which is where I got mine. But I have a different barcode: 8 5827502241 4
Purebinder
I have the same barcode as you do : 8 5827502241 4Ordered from Bull Moose, it came with the slipmat and is on translucent orange vinyl
Winenama
Received the orange variant as an Amazon preorder. No slipmat.
Iesha
I believe there was also a translucent orange edition available via mailorder from Barnett's website. Mine came with a promotional tote bag as opposed to a slipmat.
Garr
Styx-n-Stones What barcode does the version from her website have? 858275022117
Ionzar
What barcode does the version from her website have?
Jeb
Yup! Just got mine and it's translucent orange. Tote and all.
Fordrellador
I ordered from her website and received the single translucent orange LP version and tote bag.
Dagdage
Yes. Mine came today with tote bag and translucent vinyl. Great album BTW.
Геракл
I think the standard release listing here that states black vinyl should be changed to translucent orange.
Ferne
Or it's possible that all of the first pressing is translucent orange.
