Are You Experienced? Lyrics. If you can just get your mind together Then come on across to me We'll hold hands, and then we'll watch the sunrise From the bottom of the sea. But first, are you experienced? Have you ever been experienced? Well, I have. I know, I know you probably scream and cry That your little world won't let you go But who in your measly little world Are you trying to prove that You're made out of gold and, eh, can't be sold. So uh, are you experienced? Have you ever been experienced? Well, I have Ah, let me prove.

The debut album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience was initially issued in mono and then 'enhanced stereo' on later issues. 180 gram audiophile vinyl. Recordings for Are You Experienced had begun in late October 1966, producing a string of singles preceding the illustrious first album by the world's most famous guitarist. While recording, the future working relationship between engineer Eddie Kramer and Hendrix was forged. The debut album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience was initially issued in mono and then 'enhanced stereo' on later issues. The UK cover photography was by Bruce Flemming. Releases in Europe had the words "Jimi Hendrix" placed above the title

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was a British-American rock band that formed in Westminster, London, in September 1966. Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jimi Hendrix, drummer Mitch Mitchell, and bassist Noel Redding comprised the group, which was active until June 1969. During this time, they released three studio albums and became one of the most popular acts in rock music.

Jimi Hendrix- Are You Experienced". on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums. When a musician writes a piece of music, they keep two things in perspective- sound, and silence. What you do NOT play is just as, if not, more important than what you do play. Jimi Hendrix, of all rock guitar players, was a musician who understood that philosophy, and used it to his full advantage. Sure, he was an amazing soloist, who could hold his own weight at fast tempos, but what made Jimi unique is that he understood that 2 notes could do as much as 10 notes in the context of a song. While this is true, because the Jimi Hendrix Experience is a guitar driven band, it is not appropriate to call 'Are You Experienced"' a 'guitar only' album. Mitch Mitchell provides amazing drum tracks on every song, most notably 'Fire' and 'Can You See Me'. Noel Redding as well provides excellent basslines, especially the catchy riff on 'Fire'.

It's all true, these are amazing versions of these albums. I bought Axis and Electric Ladyland too once I heard this one. If you put this on and told me these were Analogue Productions $55 records I'd believe you. Great clarity. Superb listening. I felt like I'd never really heard the record before after a listen in headphones.
Endieyab
Wonderful quality pressing. These incredible songs were all mushy on my late seventies Polydor reissue (now exiting my collection and going straight to Ebay!). At last this music is alive. No Hendrix fan would be disappointed. Surely?
happy light
25% off the $15.99 priced sticker at Newbury Comics a couple years back, I feel like I stole this album paying so little.
Xirmiu
Excellent reissue! Very crisp, and very dynamic! Sounds awesome on my Pro-Ject!
Tyler Is Not Here
I have a greatest hits album by Jimi; it's an older edition, not first press or anything but it's from the late 70's. When comparing some of the shared songs, this pressing is clearly superior (Purple Haze's incredible drumming, most specifically, shines through on this pressing). This is a top-notch, audophile-quality pressing. The archival-quality inner sleeve is a wonderful plus, as well. If you are looking for this album, this pressing is most certainly a solid choice
Kare
Fantastic release: great mastering! Vinyl with no crackling, hairlines, marks (comes in high quality inner sleeve). Pressing was made by QRP (also presses for the audiophile label Analogue Productions)! STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!

I think this is a good pressing. I have not detected any noise or defects. I compared it to the latest CD remaster (also “approved” by the Hendrix Family) just to have a reference (I have not listened to the original LP), and I found it lacks (or could have more) treble in the mix. Also the drums sound a bit muffled. Other than that, it is a very enjoyable LP, made with good quality, including the artwork.
Rocksmith
:) yes, I'm very picky with that, and you know, the "shh" is barely noticeable. In fact, I hadn't noticed it until I read the first post about it, so I checked with headphones. And being picky as I am, that drove me crazy for a while. But then, I came to understand that's the way it is recorded, and it is not a "defect". Maybe your copy doesn't have it for some reason. Cheers!

Have you cleaned your stylus lately? :) :) :) :)
Wnex
"Shhhhhhh" sound like rushing air underneath the music, spoils the listening experience
Thordigda
Sounds great to my music-producing, engineering ears.....for an over-compressed 1967 recording with barely any separation and, as another comment added, no doubt a dormant snare rattling, a jazz drummer’s ride under so much of it. I can’t hear any whoosh that isn’t MUSIC. Not on my copy.
Bedy
As others have said, chances are that's a master tape problem and not a pressing issue.
Alianyau
Thanks for the info on the drumming noise. I always thought it was the overly loud hum rattling the drums and one of the reasons that drum kits were put behind glass. Good to know,Cheers !
Quphagie
Yes, there is a very small amount of shhh through the whole recording. I haven't compared it to an original LP, but after reading the 2 replies below, I also think most for sure that is the way it was recorded (maybe that noise comes from the equipment used to record). The other option I can think of is the degrading of the original tapes when doing this new mastering. I don't think it is amplifier hum making the snare drum rattle, that is a different noise (I'm a drummer myself).
Gaiauaco
That is in the original pressing too. A lot of 60's-early 70's psychedelic rock bands had this problem with the mastering (too much acid in the studio? or possibly just cheap equipment or tape). This is the case with the early Funkadelic albums too. I honestly don't notice it unless I'm actively listening for it though.
Meri
That's amplifier hum rattling the snare drum. This is old school. Mine is very crisp and clean so far. There seems to be a glitch in the fade out on side 1. Other than that, it's tits. SL1200 MK3 AT15SS cart. And I haven't even put it through the VPI yet.
