Doggystyle, the debut album by Snoop Doggy Dogg, was released by Death Row Records on November 23, 1993. Following his appearances on Dr. Dre’s Deep Cover and The Chronic album in 1992, Snoop’s debut was highly anticipated. This album, along with The Chronic, are viewed as two of the most important West Coast albums of all-time as they helped further establish the G-Funk sound and gangsta rap, influencing artists outside of the West Coast to try and emulate their sound and success. The album has been featured on numerous all-time lists, including The Source’s 100 Best Rap Albums, Rolling Stone’s Essential Recordings of the 90s, and Stylus Magazine’s Top 200 Albums of All-Time.

Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle is a mixed hardcore pornography and hip-hop music video featuring the music of rapper Snoop Dogg and presented by him. It was released in 2001. It was the first hardcore video ever listed on the Billboard music video sales chart. Because of its huge success, it started a trend where rappers are put into the mainstream of the porn industry by hosting X-rated films. Many films of the genre followed, starring Necro, Mystikal, Too Short, Ice-T and Yukmouth.

Notes

The original version of this album was released in November of 1993 with the track "Gz Up, Hoes Down".

This version was reissued immediately thereafter without "Gz Up, Hoes Down" reportedly in response to a sample clearance issue of Isaac Hayes' "The Look Of Love" being used on the track.

Although it shares the same catalog number, labels, and cover as the first pressing, this reissue can be identified by the audio on side 'G', which unlike on the initial release, lacks "Gz Up, Hoes Down" and therefore only contains nine tracks, as well as by the corresponding runout groove where the "B" at the end of the matrix number was scratched out and replaced with a "C".

Also reissued in 1996 with a new catalog number (P1 50605).

In addition to the removed track "Gz Up, Hoes Down", "Tha Next Episode" is also listed on the label of side G even though not present in the audio of this release or any other release.

Track B1 "Who Am I (What's My Name)?" is based on Atomic Dog by George Clinton.
The intro of track B9 "Pump Pump" is based on a conversation from the 1973 movie "The Mack".

Sounds great. One of my favorite records of all time. VMP does the music justice with the amazing pressing.

I bought a copy of this album after my friend Jeremy played me it. It's really good!! However, if your mam is like mine and a very religious lady, you will need to hide this album away from her as all of the swearing and the unsavoury picture it paints of living in the war-torn streets of south central LA are likely to cause offence. My advice is not to hide it under your mattress though. While this may seem like the ideal place to stash an explicit album (because it is flat) I would recommend against it after what happened when mine was hidden under my mattress. My mam's toyboy Gavin had his young 3-year old son from another relationship 'Tristan' to stay for the weekend, and I was demoted to the sofa so that 'Tristan' could sleep in my bed. Needless to say, he wasn't potty-trained (and still isn't, even though he is now almost 5) and he wet the bed. This wouldn't have been so bad, but he had drunk approx. 2.5 litres of Pepsi before going to sleep, so there was A LOT of wee. Of course, my copy of Doggystyle was a sodden mess when I eventually rescued it, and to this day it still absolutely stinks of wee.

Aside from the song "Gz Up, Hoes Down" being excluded, this is a fantastic pressing. I've never heard the OG pressing, but this is damn good. This release is now listed as "Out of Stock" on the VMP website.
Golkis
Really? I just ordered mine in January?Anyway, they'll make more.

Fantastic pressing off an ace mastering job. Jacket is ok but not really much of a downside considering how *good* the album sounds. Get yourself a copy of this before the price goes up.
Winn
Heavy vinyl, plays loud. Includes all-white, die-cut sheet with "Snoop" logo from the cover. Side A has intermittent background noise that sounded like over-amplified feedback. Anyone else have this issue? Amazing pressing otherwise.
Kalrajas
great pressing sound is wicked and vinyl is beautiful. was pretty disappointed in the sleeve however. i almost never by sleeves that just shove 2lps in a normal size jacket and if it mentioned it was going to be like that i likely wouldnt have bought it. specifically said on the website it was a tip on gatefold. they said i could return it but just sounds too damn good.
Dellevar
Amazing pressing, sounds awesome @ 45rpm! Glad to own this one....
Zbr
Also of note is that this is remastered from the original analog master tapes.Phenomenal pressing too. Loud, defined, great stereo.
Jaiarton
I think it sounds good, but the vinyl is really flimsy. I'm not sure it could get much thinner without being non-existent.
Friert
I have no idea what you're talking about. It's a standard weight, 140-150g. I'm guessing you don't own any albums from the late 70s and 80s, when they were often 100-110g. That's a floppy!Weight has no bearing on sound quality.
