New York rapper-singer Azealia Banks' repeatedly postponed album finally drops.

It's finally here! Broke With Expensive Taste by Azealia Banks has been requested and I can hear y'all typing "about time" on your keyboards right now.

Broke with Expensive Taste is the debut studio album by American recording artist Azealia Banks. In 2011, Banks started working on the album despite not having signed to a record label at that time. A year later, she signed a contract deal with Interscope and Polydor Records to work on the album. However, she felt dissatisfied with the labels' representatives and consequently, she ended the contract with the labels in July 2014 and signed to Prospect Park. The album peaked at number 30 on the US Billboard 200 and appeared on record charts of several countries including Australia, Scotland, Belgium, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. On May 22, 2018, Azealia stated on Twitter that before passing, her dad wanted her to become a black ballerina, which inspired the cover of the album. Broke with Expensive Taste Q&A.

Broke With Expensive Taste shows why people got excited about Banks in the first place, even if it remains a niche concern, writes Alex Macpherson. But Universal were probably right: Broke With Expensive Taste is a niche concern, not an album designed to set the charts alight. Banks makes few overtures to popular trends. Instead, she doubles down on experimenting within her field of interest: off-kilter underground club music paired with opulent fashion-inspired imagery. Isis Queen, the icy witch, winter fresh in that whitey Benz, she purrs on Ice Princess, savouring the sibilance on her tongue.

Broke With Expensive Tast. has been added to your Cart. This album, as a whole, can be best described as DIFFERENT. which is honestly rare these days.

Her aim was toBroke With Expensive Taste, despite all of the delays, false starts and label issues, has been worth the wait WITHOUT A DOUBT. Her aim was to cover the genres "as told by Azealia Banks", and if salsa (rapping AND singing in Spanish too) and a rock song with Ariel Pink isn't enough, then I personally pity your music taste. This is an innovative record and Azealia has to be respected for being an artist who writes, directs and constructs every song to an unparalleled standard

Well, Azealia Banks is it, and Broke With Expensive Taste is a reminder that the corner of Harlem that she claims is walking distance from both Washington Heights and the Bronx, where you’re as likely to hear hip-hop booming out of apartments and passing cars as freestyle, reggaeton, house, or bachata. It’s a quick subway jaunt away from the landmark clubs where ball culture persists, as well as perennial dance parties at Webster Hall and the glut of eclectic Lower Manhattan concert venues

Broke with Expensive Taste is the debut studio album by American rapper Azealia Banks.
