Michel Magne (20 March 1930 in Lisieux, Calvados, France - 19 December 1984 in Cergy-Pontoise, Val-d'Oise) was a French film and experimental music composer. He was nominated in 1962 for an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for adapting the Jackie Gleason score to film Gigot. He also scored Barbarella and a series of OSS 117 films. Magne wrote some songs with lyrics by Francoise Sagan for Juliette Greco and provided orchestral accompaniment.

Michel Magne enjoyed a Raymond Scott -like double career. His day gig was as a prominent and prolific composer for French film and television, mostly for projects that did not travel or are not fondly remembered; Magne 's most famous film was Barbarella (1968) and he won an Oscar for Gigot (1962), an often reviled comedy in which Jackie Gleason channeled the spirit of Charlie Chaplin Having devoted several discs to Magne 's film work in its Ecoutez le Cinema series, Universal Music Jazz France turns its attention to the more twisted side of Michel Magne 's personality in Le Monde Experimental de Michel Magne.
