Floyd Newman - baritone saxophone.
For those of you who tuned in late, Roy Lee Johnson was a member of Dr. Feelgood and the Interns and wrote their big hit, "Mister Moonlight," twhich gained Johnson his liner-note historical footnote when it was covered by the Beatles on one of their early albums. Johnson went on to record for OKeh and Stax, write with Otis Redding, and have the title track of this album be recorded by Roy Buchanan and Albert Collins. A down-home album with a strong church and soulful feel to it, Johnson has come up with a minor classic here.

Open my eyes to see The wonderful mystery of love Falling into you I'm drawn to the gravity of love. We're standing still in a moment of eternity Where worlds collide and I feel the breath of heaven over me. My soul sings My soul sings My soul sings How I love you. Open the page and see The wonderful history of love I start and end with you I'm pulled to the gravity of love.
Roy Lee Johnson (born December 31, 1938) is an American R&B and soul songwriter, singer and guitarist. He is best known for his composition "Mr. Moonlight", which has been covered by many artists, including The Beatles. He was born in Centralhatchee, Georgia, and began playing guitar as a child. However, in 1964 the Beatles covered "Mr. Moonlight" on the album Beatles for Sale (on Beatles '65 in the US), the success of which allowed Johnson to form his own band. He recorded three singles for Columbia Records in 1966-67, including "My Best Just Ain’t Good Enough", and another single for the Josie label. Otis Redding, for whom he had previously been a support act, then introduced him to Phil Walden, who recorded three singles with him in 1968 at the FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, featuring the studio rhythm section.
The album kicks off with the gritty yet enticing track Limbo Off the grid and into paradise, her whole life, On a ride, her whole life was on a ride, on a ride, life was on a ride. It feels like you're walking in a dark room with your eyes closed, touching everything, not afraid, embracing the unknown because it’s a new place. Throughout the album, there is a battle going on, the battle for controlling state of her soul. Whether it be love, loss, industry politics, Jhene Aiko is fighting for her own existence in her dream to be successful. To be who you are, and not let what you achieve, who you love, and who you lose along the way dictate who you become.
