Famous Monsters ‎(LP, Album, RE). Music On Vinyl, Roadrunner Records. Famous Monsters ‎(CD, Album).

Their fifth studio album Famous Monsters is the second one without singer and founder Glenn Danzig. As the follow-up of American Psycho they're focusing on the some aspects from the punk and metal music. The vocal parts are in the hands of Michale Graves and the songs are all well written. Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein brings out some of his famous guitar riffs, while Dr. Chud is hitting his drums. The Misfits are founded in 1977 by Glenn Danzig. They were hitting the stages the first couple of years with their hardcore punk. Later on they changed their style to the heavy metal and punk rock. Consistent during the years is the influences from horror and sci-fi films, which can be seen by the clothing they wear, the visuals in the live shows and in the lyric they write. The package of Famous Monsters includes a 4 page booklet. 180 gram audiophile vinyl. Includes 4 page booklet.

Misfits is a compilation album of early songs from the American punk rock band the Misfits. The compilation is officially titled Misfits, but is commonly referred to as Collection I and was made up as the first half of a pair with the later release of the compilation album Collection II. It includes several versions of songs that are exclusive to this compilation.

The Misfits were a punk-rock band that formed in New Jersey during the late 1970s and broke up in 1983. They primarily consisted of bassist Jerry Only, his teenage brother Doyle, vocalist Glenn Danzig and a rotating slew of drummers. They created the genre known today as horror punk and played an integral part in inspiring many other bands that would later comprise the modern punk scene.

Famous Monsters is a 1999 album by the Misfits. It is the second in the post-Danzig era of the band, and the last album to feature Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, Michale Graves, and Dr. Chud, who would all quit the band in 2000. The album's title is an allusion to the horror magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland. The UK release also exclusively includes the song "1,000,000 Years BC", which was later re-released on Cuts from the Crypt in 2001.

Sounds killer music on vinyl never disappoints! comes with 2 hype stickers one for music on vinyl the other is the roadrunner records logo
Sounds great! The artwork is interestingly enough different from the original vinyl release, but the same as the CD release. My guess would be, that they sent the original scan of the painting to the vinyl press and later had it altereded for the CD.It's fun to compare the two vinyl versions for a game of "spot the differences".Though, I'm a bit dissappointed with the art of the back, since it looks like a low-res scan blown up, which makes it pixelated. The Insert is a bit of a i dissappointment too: I was hoping for some cool unseen pics from the studio or something like that, but it's just some rehashed stuff from the CD.The vinyl color is also a bit of a let-down. I was under the impression, that it was gonna be sort of a neon-green color, which would match the two original vinyl colors amazingly well, but what we ended up getting is a bit of a bland green. These are minor points of criticism, since you get this classic a whole lot cheaper, than what the japanese print costs. This is a must-have.
Audio is a little muddy, but it's a great album.
first side is 24.25 minutes or 24:15 long if i did that sum correctly, i think i've read somewhere that the ideal amount of minutes per side to let it breath well is around 18-21 minutes long so this to me means they crammed this one and i would credit most of the audio quality to this issue. If they left this at about 18 minutes per side you could have a nice 3 side with a 4th etched vinyl and it would just have been a better edition in general with better audio and better valued by the public. Music on Vinyl is starting to fall off my 'quality releases' list tbh.
Just picked up a copy of this in my local record store, 3 copies left, and it sounds brilliant. No complaints at all. Happy days!
I think this 'limited edition' is just not viable to get anymore, yeah the ablum is badass and the Music on Vinyl 'quality' is partly there (i think it lacks noticeably on the mastering side of things, maybe could have done better with 3 or 4 sides instead of 2 to let the sound breath better) and everything but now you can only find it from scalpers and it's just not gonna be a good deal. I would recommend trying to get the black version at a discounted price and enjoy the content more than the 'collector' value.
Lots of critical reviews on here about this release. I'll honestly say I have zero complaints about it. The sound is fantastic especially considering this is the first time i've heard it on vinyl. The mixing is great and I've heard details that I've never heard before. If you're thinking about buying this, do it. You will not regret it.
preordered on amazon in july, still haven't received anything other than an email saying they're pushing back the shipping date to an undisclosed time. anyone else heard anything?
I had the same thing happen. It’s pretty safe to say, at this point, that they’re never getting it. I canceled mine immediately, and managed to get one from an eBay seller in the UK at a fair price. I wish you luck.
Same here. I ended up cancelling my order because I'm getting the impression that they won't have the colored version, will cancel orders, and people will be buying the standard black version that will release October 8th.
so my question is, i know its a repress but is it worth opening? the price on this record has already jumped up about $20 in the past week. I’m more a listener than a collector but I usually dont open if i know itll end up increasing a great deal in value.
Well, if you want to hang onto it to sell later, there is a black vinyl copy coming out that isn't a limited edition.
Little bit off-topic from the rest of the conversation, but does anybody else's copy sound a bit muddy?
I'm giving it a listen to this again after recalibrating some parameters on my turntable and while it's not precisely what i would call distorted i would call it badly/mediocrely remastered and i would say it could be the fault of cramming this amount of songs per side, it could have done way better with at least 3 sides and etch the 4 with something or go for 4 sides. To me it sounds more compressed than what i would like it to sound or with, let's say, less dynamic range.
I personally thought it sounded great. The sound feels full and rich. It beats the 90's picture disc by a country mile, that's for damn sure.
Actually I though my copy did...but overall I'm pretty happy with it and at least I have this on vinyl now!
I am quite pleased with the sound overall. But I guess depends also on the stereo system / set up played on...?

any one have one for sale by chance thank you?
Does anyone else think this sounds kinda slow compared to the CD release?
never thought about being slower...but for sure it doesn't sound good at all
Possibly though picture discs are notorious for having sound issues.
Anyone know how the sound quality is on this bootleg? Is it realy limited to 200 copies? what do you all think?
Golden Lama
In my opinion the sound is much much poorer to the original.
I had this before and it was the best sound quality so far for a Misfits bootleg. Wish I still owned it.
