Morgen was an American psychedelic rock band formed in Long Island. Their only album, "Morgen", is considered one of the best (though obscure) heavy American psychedelic rock albums of the 1960s. The first track off of this album, "Welcome To The Void", includes several references to fairy -tales and folklore, including Jack Be Nimble and Peter Pan. Morgen was founded in 1968 by Steve Morgen, Bobby Rizzo, Murray Schiffrin, Mike Ratti, and Barry Stock.

Arguably the greatest psychedelic rock album to emerge from the US in the late 1960s, this has it all - ace musicianship, trippy songs, jaw-dropping guitar and spacey production. It's presented here with the full involvement of the band's enigmatic leader and songwriter Steve Morgen, who tells the story behind the album for the first time, as well as providing previously unreleased images and bonus tracks from his personal archive. The result is truly essential for fans of psychedelia.

Morgen was an obscure short lived 60's psychedelic band originally from Long Island, New York and led by Steven Morgen. They released a sole record in 1969. 2. Morgen was founded in 2006 by Benjamin Pollach and Anna-Luca Rademacher. Anna-Luca Rademacher, singer and songwriter of Morgen, studies Music in Arnheim/Netherlands and lives in Cologne/Germany.

Steve Morgen wants to be devious and menacing: that much is obvious from the testosterone-fueled, overheated psychedelic guitar runs that fill much of the material on the mystery man's album. He doesn't always succeed, and in fact at times sounds a little foolish. Still, the record is a not-bad slab of idiosyncratic heavy acid rock, often crazed in the free-falling sustain and buzz of the guitar work, and not much less restrained in his lusty songwriting, though the singing and writing aren't as good as the instrumental flash on display.

Any one have a feedback on the sound quality of this release?
Thanks, what about the Sundazed, do you have that one?
Got mine Friday. I have an original FYI. I'm going to say it's fairly acceptable; I feel as though it was mastered from a vinyl copy though, not the master tapes (which DO exist); it does sound a bit "tighter" than the OG, a bit quieter, not as robust. (And wow, they certainly could have given the grooves a bit more room, that's for sure.) I compared it to the commonly found "bootleg" and I don't think it's any better to be honest; the boot—and I'm sorry to say this—I think it's a bit better than this version. Having the gatefold is nice (they should have also just reproduced the insert while they were at it), and sure, if Steve is getting royalties I am glad to buy this. But . . . sorry, wallets, the OG in VG+/M- still slays this.

Formed in Long Island in 1968, MORGEN (fronted by vocalist/guitarist Steve Morgen) released its unique album in 1969, one that is considered a major heavy psychedelic rock record, mixing fuzzy garage and freaky hard rock, covering Summer of Love flowers under furious guitars and a massive rhythm section. Absolutely essential.
Hello, this is Barry Stock, rhythm guitarist of Morgen. If Steve Morgen is out there,, please call me at 347 879 3404 anytime.
Barry, I have given you Steve's number and I know you have contacted Steve and Mike Ratti. We need to get the entry corrected to credit Bob Rizzo on bass and Mike Ratti on drums on the LP, as Rennie and Bob only toured with Morgen but did not appear on the LP. Talk to you soon, Kevin Rathert, It's Psychedelic Baby Magazine.
Why is it blocked ?Can someone explain me please ?
Radioactive / Phoenix are bootleg labels. Bootlegs are not allowed for sale on Discogs.
No bootlegs are allowed for sale, discogs Will block any bootleg
intense heavy acid psychedlic record. music for drugs. low on self-restraint, high on intensity of focus and musicianship and taking risks. works really well as a cohesive album; start to finish amazing and worth your faith in your guides.
The band entry is incorrect. Mike Ratti played drums and Bob Rizzo bass on "Morgen." I published an interview with Steve Morgen and am interviewing Barry Stock presently. I have known Mike Ratti for some time. Rennie and Bob Maiman toured with Morgen but do not appear on the LP. This needs to be corrected.
one of the best heavy psychedelic from the 60's. shame they didnt do anymore
perfect in every way
Does anyone know if a mono mix of "Purple" by this band exists? There are mono mixes of "Of Dreams" and "She's the Nitetime" from their 45 but all of their album releases are stereo? Thanks!
The pressing quality of this version is great, i doubt that this is an official release since there is no reissue notes or label mentioned only the original notes and label(no longer exists afaik)
I think youre writing to the wrong people here, sorry.
barryiweinstock Hello. As a founding member of Morgen, I sure would like to know if any orig For real?

Gotta say two copies I bought of this version—approx two years apart—both side As were pressed off-center. Booo . . .
I ended up getting the Sunbeam reissue, it's much better:
Distributed by Scorpio and likely pressed at Rainbo. Not bootleg but often low quality iffy pressings. They put out lots of budget priced LPs of typically hard to find records.
