Christmas is the twelfth studio album and the first Christmas album by Kenny Rogers released in 1981. Several original Christmas songs are also included, which have also now become well-known via this album. Christmas was also the origin of Kenny's first holiday single, "Kentucky Home Made Christmas".

Since 1982 Waffle House has been making music on their jukeboxes through their own record label, Waffle Records. I was asked to come on board in 1982 to help write and produce the songs along with singer-songwriter Mary Welch Rogers. Together we collaborated on over 30 Waffle House songs. It was not an easy task as Waffle House wanted them to sound like real records and not commercials. We would work through a list of ideas and themes which would then need to be approved by staff in the communications division.

The first Waffle House had only counter seating, which has been reproduced in the Waffle House museum in Avondale Estates, Georgia. The life long friends found the southern staple nearly four decades ago in Norcross, Georgia. Just weeks after the passing of Waffle House co-founder Joe Rogers, Thomas Forkner has died. Forkner’s death was confirmed by the company spokesman Pat Warner on Thursday (April 27), Bloomberg reports. The 98-year-old died at his retirement home in Johns Creek, Georgia.
