Body 13 is one of serial killer John Wayne Gacy's 33 known victims, and one of six victims who still remain unidentified. Body 13's skeletal remains were found under Gacy's house. He was naked, possibly from being sexually assaulted. Gacy may have killed this youth in the range of August to October 1976

It is a documentary on one of the Japanese "karayuki-san," who were women that were taken from their homes in Japan and used as prostitutes in the post-war period. Many of these women were told that they were doing this to support their families because of the extreme poverty that the war left much of Japan to live in. Imamura focuses on a particular such woman who was sent to Malaysia and never returned to Japan. Joan Mellen, in The Waves at Genji's Door, called this film, "Perhaps the most brilliant and feeling of Imamura's fine documentaries.

Imamura’s gonzo approach to documentary making, which was much too slow and long in his other Malaysia film, shows all its strong points in this film as the karayuki-san Kikuyo tells her long, compelling life story. There is a kind of surprising. I watched this on Ovid. This is called the best of Imamura’s documentaries, and having watched one of the others it is easy to see why. His method of oral history works perfectly with his easygoing, cooperative informant who is tough as steel, not even flinching as she revisits the brothel she was taken to after being kidnapped.
