Blue Jays is a 1975 album by Justin Hayward and John Lodge. It was recorded and released during the Moody Blues' five-year hiatus. During work on the Moody Blues album that was to follow Seventh Sojourn, bandmates Lodge, Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge summoned Hayward and producer Tony Clarke out of a recording session to call off the project. The tension-fraught recording of Seventh Sojourn and subsequent world tour had left the band exhausted and relationships frayed

The album is best listened to as a nostalgia session because many of the cheesier '70s production techniques were employed, dating it pretty severely. Perhaps the fact that Lodge's solo career never fully took off is something we should be grateful for; had it, the Moody Blues might not have endured intact so many decades beyond their original heyday.
The "Natural Avenue," album opened up with John laying on his side, where my roomie & I sat it on the TV, just to look at how gorgeous he was and the music just as good. Children Love Rock & Roll" (both of them) are really upbeat w/o any hard rock, just the most beautiful, hauntingly beautiful music, Hard to pick one fav, but "Summer Breeze, Summer Song," Then "Carry Me," and "Say You Love Me" are killers. I have been a Moody Blues fan since day one. I think I have all of their albums. Somehow I had missed out on Natural Avenue, by Lodge, and bought it recently. The sound is very good and the cuts are very much what you would expect from Lodge. Some very beautiful and moving.
