In 1971, Davis recorded his first solo album after Atco Records signed a contract with him to record two albums with the label Davis was close friends with Gene Clark. In 1971, he played on and produced Clark's second solo album, White Light, and provided lead guitar on Clark's album No Other in 1974

Jesse soon realized he was good at singing and met Avenue with whom Jesse recorded his first single, "Get Up On This", that contained a sample of James Brown's voice. Soon later, Jesse met Arnie Friedman and Tom Gee (Prophecy) and recorded in 1992 his second single (and only hit) "Is This Love". The follow up singles were "Round And Round" and "Like A Flame". Jesse Davis (born September 11, 1965) is an American jazz saxophonist. Davis began as a student in Ellis Marsalis's New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. After graduating, Davis embarked on a productive jazz career, recording 8 albums on the Concord Jazz label, alongside collaborations with such artists as Jack McDuff and Illinois Jacquet. Davis has studied music at Northeastern Illinois University, and in 1989 he received a "Most Outstanding Musician award" from Down Beat magazine.
